You don't know where to start
You don't have to. Your coach writes the programme, shows you every movement and watches your form, so all you do is turn up and book in.
The 30 Day Trial · Guildford & Godalming
Patch is small group personal training, between Guildford and Godalming. Up to six people, a coach guiding every movement, and a programme set to you. It's for people who've never lifted a weight, haven't trained in years, or have paid for gyms they never went to.
The 30 Day Trial: a 1-1 evaluation, twelve small group PT sessions, nutrition and lifestyle coaching, and every class on the timetable.
We only release 10 trials a month
One of our coaches will give you a call. It's a short, friendly chat, and there's no pressure.

Everything we'd tell you on the phone, in one place.
No commitment, and no long-term tie-in. If you love it, we'll suggest the right membership for you after the 30 days. We'll go through the price on the call.
01 Who this is for
Lauren had never set foot in a gym at 36. Bev hadn't either, at 55. Kalvin had paid for gym memberships for years and never gone. Everyone has to start somewhere.
You don't have to. Your coach writes the programme, shows you every movement and watches your form, so all you do is turn up and book in.
A knee, a back, an old injury, or recovering from surgery. Tell your coach and every exercise is adapted to you, so you get the most out of each session.
Our members are every age and every ability, and plenty were nervous at first. In Charlotte's words, “it's really non-intimidating. Everyone says that, but it's really true.”
02 Meet the founder
I opened Patch in 2021, in a little room above Guildford Rugby Club. We wanted to create the friendliest gym that people have ever visited: somewhere welcoming, where nobody feels intimidated, that gives you the best possible chance of reaching your goals.
Since then we've worked with hundreds of people, of every age, ability and fitness level. Plenty had never set foot in a gym, or were nervous about an injury. Everything can be adapted to where you are, and you won't be doing any of it alone.
The first step is a short call. We'll talk about what you're after, what's held you back before, and whether the 30 days are right for you. If they're not, there are no hard feelings.
03 The coaches
Ten coaches, and you'll get to know them all. They'll know your name, your programme and anything that needs working around.

“I think that the coaches have been really kind to me and really patient with me, because I think the fear was coming off me when I first arrived.”
Bev · had never been in a gym, at 55
So every new member gets the time and attention they need. Tell us when you could train and we'll find you a start date.
04 The 30 Day Trial
Here's how it goes, from your first call to day thirty. You'll have met a coach and had your evaluation before your first group session.
We'll ask what you're after, what's held you back before, anything physical we should know about, and when you could train. Then we'll go through the price and your start date.
A coach takes you through an evaluation to understand your goals, your nutrition and lifestyle, and anything that aches, so the programme suits you.
The session's already planned. A stretch, a warm-up, the main sets and a finisher, with your coach guiding every movement and setting the weights to you.
You book them in the app, around your week, and any class on the timetable on top. Nutrition and lifestyle coaching runs alongside, with regular check-ins.
We'll look at how you've got on. If you love it, we'll suggest the right membership for you. Either way, you're free to choose.

We'll start you with a 1-1 evaluation, so by the time you join a group you already know your coach and what you're doing.
06 The space
We're at Heyworth Business Park, on the Old Portsmouth Road between Guildford and Godalming. Here's what a session with us looks like.
Want to see it for yourself? Tell us what you're after and we'll talk you through how it would work for you.

If you’re reading the reviews you’re probably debating if it’s worth joining, if it’s worth the extra cost over a regular gym, well I can assure you that for both questions the answer is yes it is worth it.

At 51 years old, overweight and unfit, I knew I wanted to do weight lifting, but knew I wasn’t confident to do it in a local leisure centre, so I took a punt on Patch. 6 months later I am so happy that I did.

08 The worry
Being watched. Getting it wrong. Hurting themselves. Being the least fit person in the room, or walking into the weights area of a big gym and not knowing what to do.
Most of them tell us it went within the first session or two. As Kate put it:
“I hate people watching me train and I hate getting things wrong. I don't think I've ever felt that once since I've been here.”
Kate · Patch member
Helen had the Patch website open on her phone for about a year before she came in. Now she wishes she'd done it a year earlier.
